This interactive map was launched by HIMSS,Social Health Insights data visualization project aims to reduce medical errors and improve patient outcomes eliminating the human errors. The map is pre-loaded with the hospital information and the specialty of that particular hospital. Depending on the patients critical condition and patients satisfaction scores using the national standard, , Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers Survey ,the map automatically suggests the best suited and nearest hospital.
This kind of map may change the way we look at the world and save innumerable number of precious human lives.
This also comes with the additional advantage that there is a plan to update the map whenever new data becomes available.
The open source project uses publicly available data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ website and also open data from Data.Medicare.gov. The code for the project is listed on GitHub
The brain behind the project was Mark Silverberg, the chief technology officer and co-founder of Social Health Insights.
