Behold the Bluetooth V5 - yup finally after long last the version 5 of the bluetooth is accepted by wireless standard's Special Interest Group......yes officially. Though it will take another 6 months to actually land on the consumer devices, here is what we can expect and what not to: It has superior range around 4X yes you got that right 4 times the range. 2X speed for data transfer. What not to expect: The quality of audio transmitted over blue tooth is still not upto the mark especially when we are more poised towards a wireless headphone future(thanks to likes of Apple). The update on audio compression side is not expected untill 2018. But, what we have is increase in range (now the whole of the home or small office comes inside the range) and speed will definitely give a boost to IoT, which could definitely use it.
