hey guys have you come across these words cloud storage, cloud computing, cloud apps etc.., well here is an little interesting sneak peak into what they really mean...etc
 
A cloud storage is virtual space on the internet where all your data will be stored on various servers all over the world. The best example being your gmail account.

 
Google has its own cloud storage called Google drive, which was earlier knows as Google docs, was launched in April 2012.
 
Google drive is much more advanced, efficient and user-friendly compared to other cloud storage facilities like Dropbox, Box.net, Microsoft, Amazon.
 
A Google Drive  user can store all most anything that he needs it to be in very safe place, for a long time.
 
 
Three unique features of Google drive:
 
1.It supports many file formats. Some of them being
  • Image files (.JPEG, .PNG, .GIF, .TIFF, .BMP)
  • Video files (WebM, .MPEG4, .3GPP, .MOV, .AVI, .MPEGPS, .WMV, .FLV)
  • Text files (.TXT)
  • Markup/Code (.CSS, .HTML, .PHP, .C, .CPP, .H, .HPP, .JS)
  • Microsoft Word (.DOC and .DOCX)
  • Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)

The documents stored in the drive can be access from anywhere at anytime from any device like laptop, pc or even from a mobile device, and could being sync bringing you the documents instaneously.
 
3.Ultimate Search option:
 
As it is a Google's product it gives you the fastest means of finding the required document in short time compared to any other cloud storage.
 
you can even search images stored in the cloud through Optical Character Recognition(OCR).
 
 
Often the cloud storage is an expensive affair but Google gives you a free storage of 5GB per user.

It allows real time collaborative editing i.e. more than one person can edit the document simultaneously on the drive, different colours representing different users.
 
Most cloud storages need internet connection, but not for Google drive  download  a plugin called
Google Keep form chrome web store and it works fine in offline too.
 
 
It even has its own android app in Google Play store.
 
Google Drive is also available on IOS and in all apple products too.

security is a major concern when it comes to these kinds of things and Google indeed does give you a lot of options.

It gives you two-factor authentication for greater account security.

To log in, users must provide a short random code sequence sent to their phones via SMS.

Google has switched to using secure sockets layer communication (HTTPS) preventing common man-in-the-middle attacks.

      it depends ur net speed da d specialty of cloud storage is its faster rate of download and upload so it won't be a problem
